Ms Maiko Sentina is a senior legal counsel in Canva’s intellectual property legal team. Launched in 2013, Canva is an online visual communications and collaboration platform with a mission to empower everyone in the world to design. Ms Sentina leads trademarks and brand protection at Canva. She manages a team responsible for Canva’s trademarks and domains portfolio, and provides expert advice on brand strategy, protection, naming and enforcement. Prior to joining Canva in 2021, Ms Sentina was a solicitor at award-winning Indigenous-owned IP law firm Terri Janke & Company, advising Indigenous businesses and creatives on their branding and other IP needs. Ms Sentina also worked as a legal & business affairs counsel at Australian animation studio Flying Bark Productions, conducting end-to-end legal work for productions like Marvel's What If…? And Nickelodeon’s Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and managing brand protection, licensing and enforcement of the iconic Australian brand, Blinky Bill.
