Lauren is a highly experienced intellectual property lawyer, specialising in both litigious and commercial IP matters, covering patents, trade marks, designs and copyright, as well as matters involving misuse of confidential information, misleading or deceptive conduct, and passing off. Recognised as a leading patent practitioner, Lauren advises clients on complex patent disputes and strategic IP issues. She regularly acts in patent infringement and revocation proceedings, as well as matters involving contractual rights, confidential information, inventorship disputes, and other issues arising in the development and commercialisation of technology. Lauren has acted in a number of market-leading patent cases involving cutting-edge technologies and novel questions of law. Most notably, she represented Dr Stephen Thaler in landmark proceedings before the Federal Court of Australia and the High Court of Australia concerning whether an AI system can be recognised as an inventor for the purposes of patent law. Lauren co-chairs the Allens AI Community of Practice and is recognised as a Leading Contentious Intellectual Property Lawyer 2026 in Doyle's Guide, a Leading Associate in Legal500, and a Rising Star 2022-2026 in Managing Intellectual Property’s IP Stars.
