David Wong is vice president and head of the OBM business unit at Inspired Medical, part of Vincent Medical Holdings Limited (HKEX: 1612). Having joined the company in December 2016, Mr Wong serves as a director of various group subsidiaries and oversees distribution across more than 80 countries, as well as strategic partnerships with Medtronic, Philips and GE Healthcare. With over 20 years of experience in the medical device industry, Mr Wong provides full value chain leadership across research and development, global manufacturing and supply chain operations, distribution, and commercialisation. His expertise spans a broad range of devices and technologies, including video laryngoscopes, biopsy devices, spinal and ear implants, endoscopic and single-port surgical systems, ventilators, humidification systems, and neonatal acute care equipment. He also has extensive experience in regulatory compliance, including FDA, NMPA and CE requirements, as well as branding and trademarks. Mr Wong has managed the original equipment manufacture of laparoscopic and endoluminal instruments, licensing agreements with NHS Innovations UK, partnerships with surgeons, patent transfers and intellectual property protection. He is currently heavily involved in licensing and IP transfer between government institutions and universities. Mr Wong is a fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (FHKIE) and a chartered civil and biomedical engineer. He served as chairman of the Biomedical Division from 2022 to 2024 and previously held the role of vice chairman. He is an expert advisor for the medical device sector at the Innovation and Technology Commission, an industrial and commercial advisor at Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, an advisor and committee member at the School of Optometry of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, a commercial and industry advisor at the Hong Kong Centre for Cerebro-cardiovascular Health Engineering, a mentor at the School of Biomedical Sciences of The University of Hong Kong, and an advisor at EndoR Surgery Limited.
