John LeRoy is the IP litigation co-chair at Brooks Kushman. He litigates complex intellectual property matters nationally and represents clients primarily on patent, trade secret and related contract matters. He has extensive software, patent and trade secret litigation experience and leads the firm’s trade secret and Standard Essential Patent groups. John has represented the automotive industry for more than 20 years and has tried several complex automotive trade secret and patent cases. Located in Detroit, John brings an ‘in the trenches’ perspective to automotive intellectual property. John is a Michigan Inns of Court member, and member of the Intellectual Property Owners Association and Michigan Intellectual Property Law Association. He has been recognised as a ‘Leader in the Law’ by Michigan Lawyers Weekly, ‘Michigan’s Outstanding IP Litigator of the Year,’ by Managing Intellectual Property in 2018, ‘IAM Patent 1000 Recommended Individual,’ by Intellectual Asset Management from 2017 to 2021, and Best Lawyers in America from 2015 to 2022.
