Catherine Tornabene is deputy general counsel, intellectual property & employment, at Aurora Innovation, Inc. Since joining Aurora shortly after its founding in 2017, she has been instrumental in shaping the company’s legal framework and team as Aurora expands its autonomous vehicle business. Ms. Tornabene currently oversees all aspects of intellectual property, employment law, employee relations, and immigration at Aurora. Before joining Aurora, Ms. Tornabene managed intellectual property matters at Google Inc. and practiced at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. Prior to her legal career, she worked as a software engineer at a startup that was acquired by Netscape and later by AOL. Ms. Tornabene earned BAs in Computer Science and History from UC Santa Cruz, an MS in Computer Science from Stanford University, and a JD from UC Law San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings College of the Law). She is an inventor on two patents.
