Speaker Bio
George Pappas is a senior, product focused in house attorney with a global track record advising engineering led organizations on shipping sophisticated, data intensive technologies responsibly and at scale. George serves as a primary legal advisor across the product lifecycle-from early ideation and architecture through launch and commercialization-partnering closely with product, engineering, security, privacy, and business stakeholders. At International Motors (TRATON / Volkswagen Group), GeorgeI supports connected vehicle, wireless, and e mobility programs where AI/ML, software, and data driven systems are central to product value. My work spans IP strategy for standards based technologies, including vetting and managing assertions of standards essential patents (SEPs) against vehicle connectivity stacks, telematics platforms, and emerging e mobility solutions. This includes advising on FRAND risk, portfolio exposure, and design and sourcing decisions across cellular, V2X, and related industry standards environments. George also structures IP ownership and data rights for analytics and model driven outputs; protect trade secrets and confidential information in AI and software development workflows; and negotiate vendor, partner, and customer agreements across both direct and indirect procurement. George routinely advises on privacy, data protection, platform governance, and open source compliance, with a focus on clear, scalable contractual frameworks and repeatable playbooks that align legal risk with product and commercial realities. George brings a rare technical foundation to IP and product strategy. Earlier in his career, George worked as a digital design engineer and served as a U.S. Patent Examiner, enabling deep engagement with engineers on inventorship, originality, authorship, protectability, and freedom to operate questions. George has held senior legal roles at Motorola, Qualcomm, and Volvo Cars, and practiced at top tier law firms advising on IP, licensing, litigation, M&A, and technology strategy.
