Michael Frank Martin serves as head of intellectual property at Workday, where his team manages a global intellectual property portfolio. While serving in this role, Mr Martin built and maintains an internal system for managing the portfolios and trained his team in how to use and maintain the system. After studying physics and physical chemistry at UCSD and the University of Chicago, Mr Martin worked as a technical adviser and patent agent at Gardner Carton & Douglas in Chicago. Upon graduation from Stanford Law School, he practiced patent litigation and worked in-house at an early-stage venture capital fund in the San Francisco Bay Area. For the last 15 years, he has served as in-house counsel to several software companies.
