Mr Dain Mao (Miles) is senior legal counsel at Tencent and focuses on standard-essential patent strategy. Admitted to practise in both China and the US, Mr Mao holds a technical background and previously served as legal director leading multinational consumer electronics companies, where Mr Mao oversaw global SEP litigation. In that role Mr Mao managed both defensive and assertion matters. Mr Mao has extensive experience across all major SEP forums, including China, the US, UPC, Germany, the UK, France, Netherlands, Spain, Brazil and India, and has engaged with patent owners and implementers throughout the industry for many years. Mr Mao has been involved in a series of landmark SEP cases, including the Ericsson v TCL royalty litigation in the US and the Panasonic v Xiaomi interim licence proceedings in the UK.
