Edson Souza is Legal Director, Intellectual Property, within Bayer's Legal, Patents, and Compliance Department in São Paulo, where he has led IP strategy and litigation for the Crop Science and Pharma businesses since 2014. In 2024, Leaders League Brasil named his team Best IP, Innovation and Technology In-House Department. He spent twelve years at Kasznar Leonardos, becoming Partner in 2012. Mr Souza chairs the SDG/ESG Committee of the International Institute for Intellectual Property Management and the IP Committee of CropLife Brasil. He lectures on IP in Biotechnology at the São Paulo Bar and on IP in corporate sustainability at the Université de Strasbourg. Mr Souza holds an MA in Biotechnological Law and Ethics from the University of Sheffield, read as a Chevening Alumnus, an MBA from FGV EAESP and an LLB from Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. He is admitted to the Rio de Janeiro Bar.
