Anna Bacchin was appointed as a legally qualified member of the Boards of Appeal in 2020 and since then has been working in four technical Boards in the fields of chemistry and mechanics, as well as in the Legal Board of Appeal. She was appointed to the Disciplinary Board of Appeal in 2022. Anna joined the EPO in 2005 in the Patent Law department, acting as legal member in opposition cases and was also a member of the EQE Examination Board. Prior to joining the EPO, she worked as an attorney-at-law in Padua and Munich. Anna obtained an LL.M. IP (Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition and the George Washington University Law School), graduated in law at the University of Padua and was admitted to the Italian bar. She is co-author of the commentary "Benkard, Europäisches Patentübereinkommen".
